AMTG supporting the Community

Happy New Year to all our readers at Ashby Life – we hope you have had the most marvellous Christmas and wish you a peaceful, healthy and happy 2019.

2018 was a very successful year for AMTG, and we are very committed to supporting the community as well as enjoying ourselves putting on our wonderful shows.

You wouldn’t believe how much fun we have, although of course it is hard work bringing a quality production to our audiences. We are very much looking forward to presenting Pirates of Penzance – Broadway version at the Ashby School Theatre from 9-13th April 2019, and our Box Office is open. Please go to our website and follow the link to our easy to use booking system.

During 2018 we supported a number of charities, both local and national, and made donations to The Alzheimer’s Society, Rainbows Hospice, Burton Hospitals Prostrate Unit, Raising Health Coalville Stroke Unit as well as donations to the NSPCC, Madame Curie and the National Trust. We are proud to be able to commit to supporting these charities and will continue to do so.

Also as Christmas 2018 approached, AMTG members visited Hood Court in Ashby and entertained the residents and staff. The programme for the first visit was songs from the shows, and it was lovely to have so many of our Juniors with us – there were very few dry eyes in the room when they sang their solos and group numbers. On that occasion we were ably accompanied by resident musicians Sian Turner and Neil Clarke, with the introductions being made by David McKnight, who is taking a short break from directing our productions.

Our second visit was equally as successful as the first, singing Christmas Carols. We were delighted to have so many residents singing along with us, and again everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Alan Hutchinson, who has hung up his MD baton, instead taking over as our Director for Pirates, led the way with his accomplished playing. We would like to thank the residents and staff for their wonderful welcome – we had a lovely time with them all.

We look forward to seeing you at Pirates – don’t forget to book your tickets, which are £15, from online Box Office at – Happy 2019!
